Meet Your Host Steve Ruddick

Steve RuddickBorn in Barrie, Ontario, music has always been a large part of Steve's life. His parents put him in piano lessons at an early age, and his love of music grew from there.

His first "group" was a duo in grade seven- playing drums- with a buddy on guitar and five go go dancers! He also sang in a boys elementary school chorus that did live and local television appearances. In high school he played saxophone in one Canada's top school bands and sang in a mixed choral group that travelled the U.S. and Europe.

Music took a back seat for many years as Steve concentrated on his television sportscasting career first in Barrie, then with CBC Television in Western Canada.
Moving back to Ontario with his wife Kym and young family in 1992, he joined CHCH Television first in Sports, then looking for a change, moved into the Weather Department a few years ago.

A chance meeting with realtor Judy Marsales landed him a chance to get back into music playing drums in a group at a weekly sing-along . He now bangs the skins with several groups with music ranging from gospel to rock and roll to country.

Steve says he's excited to be involved in "Pub Fiction's Got Talent" as emcee and wished something like this had come along years ago when he like many people had thoughts that "maybe I could make music a career if I just had an opportunity". That chance for someone or some people is NOW!
